WHO WE ARE

The Controlling ANTiparasitic resistance in Equines Responsibly works in the interest of the UK equine industry whose aim is to lead a coordinated approach to antiparasitic use and stewardship to combat AR in equine parasites in the UK.

Within the context of this privacy statement, “we” means www.canterforhorses.org.uk.

We don’t and promise not to sell or swap any details that our subscribers provide to us with any other organisation or third party. We respect your privacy and value your support and interest and the work that you may do with us.

HOW DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION?

We may collect and process the following data about you:

Information you give us

  • You may give us information about you by responding to CANTER communications, by mail or on our site www.canterforhorses.org.uk, email or otherwise. This includes information you provide when you enquire about our activities, sign up for emails, and when you report a problem with our site.
  • We may also collect information about individuals with whom we would like to stay in touch at events, for example, by swapping business cards.
  • The information you give us may include your name, address, job role, email address, phone number and, where you work for an organisation the name and address and other details of that organisation.
  • We may also collect data about individuals who work for or are associated with organisations with whom we work with. We may, for example, obtain or confirm your work contact details or gather more information about your role to ensure that we are contacting the appropriate individual at that organisation.

For general guests to our website the information gathered is anonymous, we can capture technical information, including the internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, browser type and version, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform. Information about your visit, including the full URL, clickstream to, through from our site (including date and time), information you viewed or searched for, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), methods used to browse away from the page.

  • Sometimes we may wish to use your data (including photographs) for our campaigns. When we do this we will ask you to complete and sign a form confirming that you agree to our use of your data in this way.

For other people with whom we work

  • Where we work with other organisations with whom we engage or wish to engage, to provide you with information about our work or our activities and to invite you to work with us.
  • For advocacy purposes where you work for an organisation we believe is engaged in seeking to promote responsible antiparasitic use and stewardship.

All people with whom we engage

The following purposes are relevant to all with whom we engage:

  • For internal record keeping, including the management of any feedback or complaints.
  • To ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for the electronic devices that you use.
  • To ask for your help in completing surveys about CANTER, its work and antiparasitic resistance in equines generally.
  • To administer our site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes.
  • As part of our efforts to keep our site safe and secure and to detect fraud and other abuses of our site.

Where possible we use aggregated or anonymous information which does not identify individual visitors to our websites.

We do not usually collect “sensitive personal data” unless there is a clear reason for doing so, to ensure we provide appropriate facilities for you to be able to participate in an event/function.

DO WE USE COOKIES?

Email and other electronic channels: We will only contact you for marketing purposes by email or other electronic means such as SMS and social media if you have agreed to be contacted for these purposes.  We shall continue to contact you unless you tell us otherwise.

Post: Where you have provided your postal address we may send you correspondence by post about our work unless you have told us that you do not wish to receive such information by post.

If you are working for an organisation with whom we work or wish to work, what will we contact you about?

We may contact you by email to continue or commence our engagement with you. In certain circumstances, we may rely on the fact that you have provided your contact details to us, for example, by giving us your contact details or where we find your contact details on any public directory and if we do this it will only be for the purposes connected with your role at the organisation for whom you work. Please also see above regarding who we will share your data with.

LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING YOUR DATA

Where you provide your contact details (i.e, postal address, email and/or mobile telephone number) to us and signify that you consent to us contacting you.

In some limited cases, for example, when you provide your business card to us we will retain and use your contact details on the basis that we treat this as your consent to us processing your data in this way unless you have informed us or inform us at any time that you do not wish to hear from us in this way.  Please see the information below under the heading called “Contacting Us” if you wish to change the way in which we contact you or to ask us to cease contacting you.

  • Where you are an established member  and we are contacting you about our activities.

We will only use your information within CANTER for the purpose or purposes for which that information was obtained.

WHERE WE STORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. As a voluntary group we are not required to be on the Data Protection Register but we follow their principles.

All information you provide to us is stored on secure servers.

Although we take appropriate measures to protect your personal data, the transmission of information via the Internet is never completely secure, and any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access. Data is stored using reputable third party providers with rigorous protocols in place.

We will ensure:

  • that all personnel who have access to and/or process Personal Data are obliged to keep the Personal Data confidential.
  • We will notify you without undue delay on becoming aware of a Personal Data breach

HOW LONG WILL YOU KEEP MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for CANTER’s relevant activity and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

For those individuals working for other organisations we will retain your data for as long as we have a working relationship with you at that organisation or any other organisation which is engaged in work which is relevant to our activities. Where your data is no longer required we will ensure that it is disposed of securely.

We will only contact you according to your preferences that you have chosen, you can request to be removed at anytime.

Where you contribute material to us, e.g. in response to a particular campaign, we will only keep your content for as long as is reasonably required for the purpose(s) for which it was submitted unless otherwise stated at the point of collection.
