CANTER consists of a Core Steering Group supported by seven specific subgroups to underpin the aims of the group. These seven subgroups are identified as:
- Develop, maintain and promote evidence-based best practice guidelines for sustainable, responsible and practical strategies for parasite control in equines
- Facilitate equine education and knowledge exchange around anthelmintic resistance (wormer resistance)
- Deliver proactive and consistent communications and raise awareness of CANTER activities and outputs
- Promote effective use and standardisation of diagnostic and monitoring tools to increase confidence in results
- Identify potential collaboration and funding opportunities to address research and data gaps
- Consider regulatory or guidance changes to promote evidence-based antiparasitic use and stewardship
These subgroups enable wider participation with the work of CANTER and operate differently depending on their associated activities. The Core Steering Group will act to provide strategic direction for CANTER and agree it’s priorities and scope for the subgroups to take agreed actions forward.
